Ok, Day 12 out of 14 and we got to do something extra because we left Rocky Mountain early the day before. We spent the night at the condominiums and drove out to Pikes Peak: 14,110 feet! (Pictures 1-5) Pikes Peak is another Colorado “14er”, however the summit is accessible by car. It was super touristy but it passed the time very well.

After the additional adventure we returned to our itinerary and drove to Cañon City, Colorado where we spent the night at a campground. Pictures 9 & 10 are the view of the surrounding mountains from the Campground. It was the last night we had to sleep in a tent, the air was warm and the sky was clear so we decided to set up the tent without the cold and wet rainfly.
On day 13 we will be whitewater rafting on the Arkansas River through the Royal Gorge.
