Capulin Volcano - Day 14 of Western Tour

Last day of the Troop 955 Western Trip.

Day 14. We stayed the night at Koshare Indian Museum and woke up super early to head towards the airport. On the way, we stopped by Capulin Volcano. You can drive to the top and walk a concrete path around the rim and into the volcano which provides great views of the surrounding landscape. It was a fun thing to do to wrap up the trip.

Picture 8 is from the night before where the whole group went out for a Mexican dinner, or “The Last Supper”. Further along the road, we drove by Philmont Scout Ranch, the camp where our troop was supposed to spend the past two weeks before the wildfire (Picture 9). It was neat to still get a glimpse of the ranch, but it made me incredibly grateful for the trip and the adventure we experienced. It was relieving to keep up with family and be able to take pictures of the scenery.

We had a great group. Over 1000 miles away from home, we traveled about 2500 miles throughout the West, hiked 60 miles, and gained thousands of feet of elevation. It’s been a trip to remember.
